Icon Sources & FAQs (serious business)

I’m new to this thou-shall-credit-me-for-every-little-thing-or-else-I’m-going-to-make-your-LJ-experience-miserable-
because-I-don’t-have-anything-else-better-to-do-in-real-life scene and I was rudely awakened to the fact that you have to credit for EVERY LITTLE THING that you use or even THINK that you used, so I thought I’d dedicate a whole update to my sources, just to keep all the panget jolos na ta ma san ba off of my kawaii back.

I stopped using fanarts not given to me by the artists themselves to make into icons, personal or otherwise, after I posted this, but if I used a fanart in one of the icons that are dated after this post, it's an honest mistake on my part. If I used a fanart to make an icon after the date of this entry, the fanart must have looked really real for me to believe that it wasn't a fanart for me to use it. Don't blame me, blame Canada! /Southpark

I’ll transfer all the icon sources I had listed on my profile to this post and add all the other “sources” I could remember I used for each and every icon, if possible.

These sources are already listed on the credits portion of my icons, and I’ve never seen any of them rabid, but just in case someone rants about the injustice of me not including these on my current post, here is the list of every source I could remember:

potterpuffs (as of today I haven't made any icons from potterpuffs yet but let me list it here just to make sure)
iharthdarth for the SW Harth.
kurafufu for the NaruHarth. Someone pointed out to me that I used domlandbubbles's NaruHarth as well and I was confused at first because I thought they were all kurafufu's. I might delete these icons from my icon list someday, to make way for others, but I think I'll keep this line of credit here just in case.

I’m using some of Youkai Yume and Technoelfie’s fanarts on my KagSess icons and I got them all from A Single Spark. (I did this way back in the day when I didn't realize it was taboo to use ANY kind of fanart for icons. I just loved their fanarts so much and I didn't know about the non-fanart rule.)
Most of my chibis are gifts from Jye-sama.
Whoever made this, the base to this, the stick figures and the dancing Naruto chibis.

Credit tutorial
For those of you who don't know how to credit someone properly, here's how to:


On the COMMENT section of your userpic, you just have to type:

<*lj user=*name of person who will waste away to nothing if you don't credit them here*>

without the asterisks and you're done.

I'm not anal about getting credit since I just steal other people's work and claim them to be my own anyway because my parents taught me how to share. =) If you want to credit me, go ahead. If you don't want to or forget, that's alright, it's a free world. OMGYOUSTOLEMYICONFANARTCOLOREDMANGAGIFANDDIDN'TKISSMYASSORCREDITMEPREPARETODIE!!!!!!!!!! I promise not to act like a ten year old brat because of it. I just turned 525,600 years old two decades ago. ~_^

* How do you make your icons with those little clips in them?
also known as "What programs do you use?"
If you're wondering what I use to make these supercalifragilisticexpialidociously fugly icons, I use Nero Showtime to take the screenshots and then I offer up human sacrifices and baby turtles while cackling over a pink cauldron before I make the icons using Photoshop 7 and Image Ready. Works everytime.

Translation: I take screenshots with Nero Showtime, paste them in Photoshop and then animate them in Image Ready. Got it memorized? /Axel

* Can I take your screenshots and use them on my site/use them for icons/wallpaper/whatever?
YES. You can TAKE ANYTHING YOU WANT and do anything with them, just don't hotlink! Feel free to use them on any site, even outside LJ if you want to.

* Why don't you demand require credit?
The first reason for that is how my icons are shaped. If you see an icon with its four sides 'cut' like how mine is right now, unless someone else is using the shape I designated for the icons I made, then chances are that it was made by me. I didn't use a template for that, I just used the marquee tool in Photoshop and then pressed delete when I made a tiny square on each side.

The second reason for why I don't go rabid over require credit is because comments are enough to make me happy it's just an icon. Yes, I technically 'made' it, since I put the images and text together, but I think it's absurd to go around stalking people or clicking their userpics whenever I see one of them using my icon, just to make sure that they properly credited me.

I have a limited amount of time that I could spend in front of the computer/online, and I'd rather not go around LJ or forums barking at people and demand that they credit me. It's a total waste of time and I'd rather waste my time doing more productive stuff like downloading torrents. I won't go "OMFG *stabbity stab stab* YOU TOOK MY ICON AND DIDN'T CREDIT ME OH THE HUMANITY *sporkity spork spork*" because even though I have never claimed to be mature for I am proud to be immature, that behavior is even too stupid childish for me. =_=

* How long does it take you to make one icon?
I have never timed myself before but I think that it depends on my mood. An animated icon takes 5-20 minutes to make, not counting any distractions like watching an anime episode, getting distracted by something shiny on TV or spamming LJ in between. =P

* What fonts do you use?
I don't remember the names of most of the fonts I use because I just scroll down my font list and look for the one that goes well with the current text. I do this randomly except for the tiny font which is 04b03, but I do get all my fonts from DaFont.com so all of the fonts I use could be found there.

* I commented but you didn't reply to me.
I do try to reply to each and every comment as much as I could, but I've turned my email alert off after my inbox got flooded with emails from my yahoo groups and LJ... ^_^;;

* Can I use the icons you're using as your personal userpics? Do you have untagged ones of them?
If you want to use any of my personal icons, go ahead. But be careful because they're all tagged with my name. If it doesn't bother you that you're going to be using an icon with someone else's name on it, go ahead and take them. Most of my personal userpics have untagged ones on the icon dumps. If untagged versions aren't found on the icon dumps, that means that I won't be making untagged versions of it. You're still free to take them, it's a free country and it's not like I'm going to go to your house and delete them off of your computer. X_x I won't be making untagged versions for you unless you're my Jye-sama as well, sorry. ^_^

* Do you take requests?
No, sorry. The only person I take requests from is my Jye-sama because I can never refuse anything she tells me to do. If she told me to jump off of a cliff, I would. ._. I do make occasional icons for my friends if I see them asking for an icon on their journals, but I'm HORRIBLE at taking requests. I tried it last year and I didn't like the icons I made. ^_^;; I also take suggestions. For example, if I haven't made an icon of a series you would like to see more icons of, you could probably suggest them to me and I'll keep them in mind for future icon dumps. =)

* Will you make any tutorials?
I made tutorials before but I'm not very good at it:

And I really don't know what to make tutorials of next except for the borders on the icons because I just copy and paste everything else. ^_^;;

* Would you mind if I added you to my friends list?
No, I don't mind if you add me to your friends list to keep track of the icons. Feel free to friend away. That's why my personal posts are locked... so people can surf for the icons without having to sort through my useless fangirling. And you don't need my permission to add me, even if you're a stalker or clown. =P

* Are you Insane/Chinese/Japanese/Gargoyle/Filipino/Korean/blah blah blah?
I'm half a Banana and half a Coconut. I could speak more Coconut than Banana though. I'm a disgrace to the Banana race even though I look more like a Banana than I do a Coconut. And if you're a Banana or a Coconut as well, you'll understand this, but that's all I'm willing to tell you. =P
